Meet Angela
Kia Ora, I’m Angela, a 40-something work-from-home mum in Wellington, New Zealand.
I was launched into adulthood with zero knowledge of how to budget, what compound interest is, or what living within my means actually looked like. My parents are awesome savers, but didn’t manage to teach me their frugal ways. I learned the hard way!
After getting myself into financial difficulty a few times (I’m a slow learner), I made changes to my lifestyle. Slashing my spending on fripperies meant I could save for the things I wanted in life. I found the FIRE community, and began to seriously consider what I wanted in life, and what a good life looked like to me.
I looked for new ways to save money, while still having fun. I quit my high-salary government job to go work for a soup kitchen; and started dating someone who had the same values as me.
When I got married to Rev. D we wanted to be able to have me at home with our children while they were small. Our frugal ways made that happen.
